Most portrait photography requires a studio, an appointment, and an hour of your time. Mine doesn't.
I've spent decades developing a specific and unusual skill: the ability to create a genuinely beautiful, thoughtfully lit, expressive portrait of almost anyone — quickly, in whatever space I'm given, under conditions that would make most photographers nervous. Two or three minutes per subject. Controlled lighting built from scratch in a corner of whatever room I'm in. A result that looks like it took all day.
To be clear about what this is and what it isn't: a portable portrait session produces one or two exceptional images of you, made quickly and efficiently at an event. It is not a substitute for a full portrait session, which gives us an hour or more to explore locations, change looks, work with different light, and create a comprehensive set of images. Both have their place. If you want one extraordinary portrait made on the spot, this is for you. If you want a full portrait experience across New York City, visit my Portrait Sessions page.
I bring this skill to events across New York City — black tie galas and corporate celebrations, vintage dance events and nightlife parties, costume events and cosplay gatherings, and weddings. At receptions, there's often a natural lull between dinner and dancing, or a quiet moment late in the evening when the dance floor has emptied — and that's when I go table to table and offer guests something they didn't know they were going to get: a proper portrait, made on the spot, in the middle of their friend's wedding. It's always popular. Even with the teenagers.
The portraits in this section were made in minutes. You won't be able to tell.
