When People Gather

New York City knows how to celebrate. I've spent decades in the middle of it — black tie galas for theater companies and symphony orchestras, fundraisers for causes I believe in deeply, counter-culture arts events where the dress code was anything but conventional, and the deeply personal milestones that mark a life: birthdays, Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, sweet sixteens, proms, bridal showers.

What all of these have in common is that someone decided this moment was worth marking. My job is to make sure it's worth remembering.
