Dressed for It
New York City is full of people who, on any given evening, look absolutely extraordinary. A gala for a symphony orchestra. A fundraiser for a cause that matters. A corporate celebration where someone has clearly been waiting all year for an excuse to wear that suit. These are people at their best — and most of them will go home with nothing but a few phone snapshots to prove it.
I've spent years changing that. Working quickly and efficiently with a portable lighting setup — or, outdoors, with whatever light the city provides — I create portraits that reflect the care these subjects have put into how they look. One or two images per person. Two to three minutes per sitting. Results that look like considerably more time was taken.
If you're an event organizer looking to offer your guests something genuinely memorable, or a guest who encountered me at an event and wants to know more — this is what I do. And the 92 images in this gallery were every single one of them made in the time it takes most people to find a good selfie angle.
