Couples portraits
Your Physical Vocabulary, Perfectly Captured
Every couple has their own way of being together. The way one of you instinctively reaches for the other's hand. The look that passes between you when something is funny but you're trying not to laugh. The way you fit together when nobody is watching. My job is to notice all of that — and then to bring it forward into the portraits.
People always comment on the authenticity of my couples portraits. What they don't always realize is that authenticity doesn't happen by accident. It takes decades of learning how to read two people, find the light that does them justice, and create the conditions where something real can happen in front of a lens. The result looks effortless. It isn't.
I shoot couples portraits on location across New York City — in Central Park, on the Brooklyn waterfront at golden hour, in the dramatic interiors of landmark venues. When the light isn't where I need it, I bring my own. What you'll never see in these images is a compromise.
